Michael Brown: Missouri governor activates National Guard

A 30 days state of emergency has been declared throughout the US State of Missouri ahead of an eminent decision on whether to file criminal charges against a white police officer Darren Wilson who shot dead a black teenager.

The governor of the US State of Missouri, Jay Nixon, who activated the state's National Guard in a statement, said the guards will support efforts to maintain peace.

A panel is deciding whether to charge Police Officer Darren Wilson who shot and killed a black teenager Michael Brown in August this year.

No specific date for the jury's decision has been given.

Brown's death set off protests in the area.
