Volta MDCEs commensurate with family of murdered DCE of Nkwanta South The Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) of the Volta Region have visited Nkwanta to commensurate with the family of the murdered Nkwanta South District Chief Executive, Peter Kenyensu. They were led by the Volta Regional Minister Mrs. Helen Ntoso and Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Julius Debrah. Consoling the family, Mrs. Ntoso assured them that the security agencies will do everything possible to track down the perpetrators of the crime and bring them to book. Mrs. Ntoso who described the murdered DCE as hardworking and a great loss to the state, urged the people not to hide the needed information that will enable the police to successfully execute the task of apprehending the perpetrators. The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Julius Debrah noted that the truth cannot be hidden and challenged those behind the heinous crime to voluntarily come out before they are apprehended. In a speech read on his behalf, the Jojari of the Challa Traditional Area, Nana Kenewu Addo Chedre expressed regret about the death of the DCE and noted that the incident has heightened tension in the area. He noted that this is not the first time a native of Challa has been murdered in cold blood and said that in each of the instances the people did not react negatively. He hoped that the authorities will ensure that justice takes its course this time. Nana Addo Chedre cautioned the people to refrain from making unsubstantiated statements in the media since they may undermine investigations. Meanwhile, the Nkwanta South Branch of the NDC has condemned the murder of their DCE. In a statement issued and signed by the Secretary John Kennedy Apegyah they described the act as barbaric and cowardly and only worth for the stone ages and not the 21st century. They expressed their condolences to the family particularly the wife and children and urged them to exercise restraint as the security agencies work hard to unravel the mystery covering the assassination.
