French President Francois Hollande will not seek re-election if he fails to reduce unemployment

French President, Francois Hollande says he will not seek re-election in 2017 if he fails to reduce unemployment.

President Hollande acknowledged making mistakes since taking office in 2012 but promised to reform the economy.

Unemployment in France is currently at 11 percent and economic growth has all but grounded to a halt.

Having been elected on a promise to boost employment, President Hollande admitted that jobs have not materialised and staked his political future on turning the situation around.
