Ghana’s Parliament Resumes Sitting In A New Ultra-modern Chamber Today


Ghana’s Parliament resumes sitting on Tuesday November 4, 2014 for the third meeting of the second session of the Sixth Parliament of the Fourth Republic in a new ultra-modern chamber.

The chamber has been enhanced with Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems which will help to ease the work of the legislators and also limit the paper work in the house.

The chamber has also been shaped to ease congestion in the chamber.

The two hundred and seventy five (275) MP's, prior to the renovation shared gadgets and desks in the previous chamber.

With the newly ultra-modern chamber, Parliamentarians will also have the opportunity to vote electronically on issues of national concern.

The MPs will now feel more comfortable in their seats to discharge their duties on the Floor of the House while they wait for the furnishing of their offices in the Job 600 Building.

Reports say the MPs after each sitting, will go through a two-hour training to help them become acquainted with the facilities.

The Legislators will be considering a number of new Bills, agreements, Questions, Statements, Papers and Instruments and complete work on some unfinished business during the last sitting.
 
The House is expected to sit for some weeks before rising for the Christmas Holidays.
