President Mahama & Gnassingbe inaugurate Ghana-Togo Border Post A joint border post between Ghana and Togo has been inuagurated at Noepe near Togo. The inaugural ceremony was jointly done by President John Mahama and Togo President Faure Gnassingbe. The border post to be manned by security personnel from both countries is to further give impetus to the free movement of persons and goods in line with ECOWAS Protocol. President Mahama, warned security personnel to avoid mounting illegal check points and extorting money from traders who use the route. The project, which cost 10.3 million euros, was supported by the European Union (EU) and it is sited on 17.7 hectares. The project is sub-divided into zones for passenger transportation, freight handling, transit and cattle inspection. President Mahama stated that similar common border projects would be established at Noe, near Elubo on the Ghana-Côte d'Ivoire border and Paga on the Ghana-Burkina Faso border. GBC
