Second round nationwide Polio Immunisation takes off today

The second round of the nationwide immunisation programme against polio begins throughout the country today.

It is being carried out by the Ghana Health Service with support from donor partners.

The programme which ends on Saturday is targeting about five point seven million children between the ages of zero to five years.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, the National Programme Manager, Dr. George Bonsu, and said vitamin A" will also be administered.

He said about 50 thousand volunteers and about five thousand supervisors will go from house to house to administer the vaccine.

Dr. Bonsu appealed to parents to make their children available for greater protection against the disease.
