Chairman of National Peace Council appeals to striking workers to return to post

The Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev Professor Emmanuel Asante has appealed to striking teachers and doctors to go back to their duty posts as they continue to dialogue with the authorities to resolve their issues. 

He said in as much as it is their right to strike they should consider the plight of the masses who depend on their abilities. 

Rev Prof Asante said this is no time for strikes as the country's economy is already in a worrying state.

Rev Prof Asante believes that the doctors also should consider the oath they took to attend to the sick no matter the situation. 

Meanwhile, the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, Most Reverend Joseph Osei-Bonsu has called on government and all striking workers to return to the negotiating table to resolve their differences. 

Most Reverend Osei-Bonsu said strikes are supposed to be instruments of last resort and the two sides must quickly sit down to look at the issue dispassionately and save the economy. 

Most Reverend Osei-Bonsu said this in an interview with Radio Ghana.
