Presidential Commission summons former Minister of Youth and Sports & others to reappear


The Presidential Commission of Inquiry assigned to look into the fallout of Ghana’s participation in the World Cup 2014, has once again summoned the former Minister of Youth and Sports Elvis Afriyie Ankrah to appear before it next week.

This is to round off the commission's sitting and to submit its report on November 14, 2014.

The three-man fact-finding body will again invite some target witnesses from Tuesday, following fresh evidence they have received in the past sittings.

Reports say witnesses who are to reappear include the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the GFA General Secretary, Emmanuel Gyimah and GFA Executive Committee member, George Afriyie. Others invited to testify include the World Cup campaigns Project Co-ordinator, Fred Darko, and travel and tour agents, Sampson Deen and Ivan Bruce Cudjoe.

Also expected to testify next week is the Director of Communications of GFA, Ibrahim Sannie Daara and two Black Stars Management Committee members, Yaw Boateng Gyan and Kwame Ofosu-Bamfo, known in football circles as Sikkens.

According to the report, witnesses who are to reappear have to do with the list of beneficiaries of the management appearance fee submitted to the commission by the GFA's president, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Opening Tuesday’s proceedings are three home-based Black Stars players - Stephen Adams, Fatau Dauda and Rashid Sumaila.

As part of its itinerary, the commission embarked on a regional tour of Kumasi last week to interact with the local media and some citizens.
