Nigeria’s President reshuffles cabinet Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan has effected a minor reshuffle of his cabinet to replace ministers who resigned from office a week ago. The Nigerian leader announced the replacement at the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting. The exercise moved the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Viola Onwuliri to the Ministry of Education, to replace Nyesom Wike, former Minister of State for Education. President Jonathan moved Nurudeen Mohammed, from his office as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, to act as supervising Minister of Information while, Minister of Defense Aliyu Guasu would also combine his duties with those of the Minister of State for Defense, as a result of Musiliu Obanikoro's resignation. The cabinet reshuffle takes immediate effect. The seven ministers who are being replaced had quit office last week to pursue political ambitions in their home states. Last month, President Jonathan gave an October 20 dateline for all members of his cabinet having governorship ambitions to quit office and pursue their goals. Source: Xinhua news
