Demolition exercise to clear encroachment on Ashaiman irrigation site to start The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly will from next month carry out a demolition exercise at the Ashaiman irrigation site to pave the way for private agricultural investors to begin work. The Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive, Ibrahim Baiden told Radio Ghana in Ashaiman that lands at the irrigation site which are government property have been encroached upon for several years. The encroachers have refused to vacate the area despite several warnings by the Assembly. This situation, according to him has retarded the development of the enclave. In line with directives by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to seek ministerial approval before any demolition exercise in their communities, the Assembly has done so.
