NHIS Capitation to be implemented in some selected regions from next month The National Health Insurance Scheme will next month start full implementation of the capitation in the Upper East, Upper West and Volta Regions. Although the programme was rolled out in these three regions in February, it could not be fully implemented due to challenges including finance. Speaking at a forum on the Campaign for Universal Access to Health Care in 2014, the Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Operations at the NHIS Nathaniel Otoo said during the pilot in the Ashanti Region issues of miscommunication, bad communication and misunderstanding of benefits came up, however they have been dealt with. He said the selected implementation will be devoid of those challenges. Source: GBC
