As important as it is for the Ghanaian government to recognize the plight of these women, it is more important to  protect the women when they return to their villages.  Residents of the villages will continue to view the  women as witches, resulting in them being ostracized, beaten, or worse.  Government involvement MUST include educating people that these women are NOT witches.  They also need to enforce existing laws prohibiting violence against the women.
