Guinea calls on retired doctors to fight Ebola

Guinean President Alpha Conde has issued a call for retired doctors to work to help the impoverished country’s overstretched health system to fight the deadly Ebola outbreak.

President Conde’s appeal has already prompted some doctors to volunteer however many workers in the country have fled in fear of the disease.

A doctor at a hospital, Ibrahim Balde, said health workers left their posts when a suspected Ebola case was found this week.

Communications Minister, Mahanera Kake said 76 doctors have been infected and 37 have died since March, Guinea has been severely hit by the Ebola virus, with 1350 infected and 778 dead.
