Global Hand Washing Day Being Marked Today

Government has declared the first Saturday of every month as for sanitation day. 

The first of November will be used to officially launch the programme. 

Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, who is spearheading this, is optimistic that people will come out in their numbers to clean their communities. 

He was speaking at this year's Global Hand Washing Day at Bukom square, in Accra. 

Meanwhile, an Expert in Environmental Sanitation and Infectious Diseases, Dr Samuel Gyasi says global hand washing day should be an annual affairs but be observed on daily basis to make it part of everyday life. 

This, he said will help prevent a lot of communicable disease. 

Dr Samuel Gyasi was speaking in an interview with Radio Ghana.
