Long Distance Female Drivers

In Ghana, commercial driving is more or less the preserve of men. Interestingly, quite a number of passengers are more comfortable when a woman operates the wheel. Though a handful of women are seen behind the wheel of some public transport vehicles in cities like Accra, it is not common to see them driving long distance commercial buses. However, the Metro Mass Transit is showing the way in this area. Today, the company has employed a number of women, who ply the Accra - Kete-Krachi route. GBC24 hitched a ride with a number of these female drivers, blazing the trail.
