Ghana Crosses Urban Divide

Ghana has crossed the urban divide with about 51% of the population living in urban areas. 

This puts a huge pressure on the already distress housing situation in the city. 

As a result, there is the proliferation of slums with more than 38% of the population of Accra living in slums. 

The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Sampson Ahi was making reference to the 2010 Population and Housing census at this year's World Habitat Day in Accra.
