Ghana’s Ambassador to Algeria Calls for Stronger Ghana-US Partnership

Ghana’s Ambassador to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo has stressed the importance for Ghana and the US to reinforce the ties between the two countries for further partnership. 

He made the call when the US Ambassador to Algeria, Ms. Joan A. Polaschik called on him at the Ghana Embassy in Algiers. 

Ambassador Nyamekye-Marfo recalled during the courtesy call that the two countries have excellent relations dating back to the early years of Ghana’s independence in 1957, under the first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. 

Radio Ghana's Correspondent, Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo reports that Mr Nyamekye-Marfo told his American counterpart Ms. Polaschik  Ghana considers the US as a key ally and acknowledged its positive role in Ghana’s democratic and development processes. 

Ghana’s Ambassador to Algeria was very appreciative to the US in respect of the role of the American Peace Corps, the training of thousands of Ghanaians in the US in a number of academic and professional institutions as well as its involvement in the Ghanaian oil industry and the support of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), among others. 

The US Ambassador, Ms. Polaschik was very thankful to her Ghanaian counterpart for the opportunity granted her to visit the Ghana Embassy in Algiers and expressed the hope that the fire for Ghana-US relations will be stoked for more cooperation. 

She was hopeful that Ghana’s oil exploitation will lead to an enhancement in its revenue generation for speedy growth and development.
