‘Frustration’ over decision by Standards Authority to introduce G-CAP

The Ghana Food and Beverages Association and the importers and exporters Association of Ghana have held a joint news conference to drum home their frustration over the decision by the Ghana Standards Authority to introduce the Ghana conformity assessment programme G-CAP. 

Addressing the media, the Acting Secretary of the Ghana Food and Beverages Association, Samuel Aggrey, said if the G-CAP is implemented it will only worsen the economic situation of the consumer.  

This is because prices of goods will continue to increase as a result of extra expenses incurred by engaging the societe Generale de Surveillance and BVAC to conduct pre-inspection audit of imports.
