Daily average of 10 water meters stolen in Tema Region An average of about ten water meters are stolen in the Tema Region daily. This recent phenomenon is causing losses to the Tema Regional Office of the Ghana water Company since it has to bear the cost of the water lost until a new meter is replaced. Speaking to Radio Ghana, the Tema Regional Chief Manager, Engineer Yaw Addae-Mensah, explained that these thieves often sell the copper component in the meter to goldsmiths, who use it to mix gold. He warned people who engage in such acts to desist from the practice saying they will not be spared when caught. Touching on the upsurge of cholera and the intermittent water supply in the Metropolis, Eng. Addae-Mensah said Tema is currently rationing water to serve consumers. GBC
