GFA President in hot exchanges with 2014 Brazil World Cup Commission

The GFA President, Kwesi Nyantekyi, has been explaining circumstances under which appearance fees are paid to management of the GFA. 

On the second day of his appearance before the Dzamefe Commission of Enquiry, he said information from government with regard to the payment of the appearance fee was sketchy but denied that some GFA Management members instigated the players not to train. 

He said it was GFA that recommended to government to pay appearance fee to management of the GFA for their contribution to the performance of the Black Star. 

Mr Nyantakyi explained that what management members received was honorarium. 

This explanation forced the commission to demand further explanation as to the difference between the honorarium and appearance fee for the GFA.

Meanwhile, the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, on Wednesday accused the Commission of Enquiry into Ghana's participation in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil of orchestrating a story published on citifmonline. 

This did not go down well with the Commissioners and a member Moses Foh Amoaning asked him to withdraw. 

The statement, Mr Nyantakyi counted that then it must be sheer coincidence that the citifmonline story was being played at the initial stages of his testimony to the commission. 

Mr Nyantakyi eventually apologised after the barter.
