FDA cautions Radio Stations against fake radio advertisements

The Food and Drugs Authority has cautioned Radio Stations to abide by the regulations of the Public Health Act 851 in promoting drugs on their networks.

It advised Radio Stations to verify the authenticity and certification of drugs by manufacturers who approach them for advertisements.

In a statement issued in Accra, the Authority stated that Act 851 of the Public Health Act bars a person from advertising food as a preventive or cure for a disease or disorder.

The Authority therefore insist that stations or persons found culpable would be liable to a summary conviction or a fine not less than seven thousand 500 penalty units.
