UK ready to play its part to fight IS British Prime Minister, David Cameron says the UK is ready to play its part in fighting Islamic State militants. Speaking at the UN in New York, Mr Cameron said past mistakes must not be an excuse for inaction, and therefore asked the world to unite to fight Islamic State militants. With Parliament due to vote tomorrow, the UK cabinet will discuss plans for air-strikes against IS in Iraq. Mr Cameron said the Iraqi government has made a clear request for international military assistance against Islamic State, which has taken control of large parts of Iraq and Syria in recent months.
