120 world leaders expected at Climate Summit


More than 120 world leaders are expected at a United Nations conference on climate change on Tuesday.

The Climate Summit has been convened by the UN Secretary-General, in order to build momentum towards securing a global agreement on reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
World governments as well as the private sector and civil society are due to join the summit.

Ban Ki-moon has asked all participants to commit to what he called "transformative action," which he said could "open the door to greater opportunity, prosperity and dignity for every person" on the planet.

On Sunday, Mr Ban joined an estimated 300,000 protesters who marched through New York City to highlight the need for international action to stop climate change.

He told them there was no "Plan B" as there is no "Planet B".
