First Lady calls for maternal and new-born deaths reduction The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, has called for political support, strategic partnership and investment that will help accelerate efforts in reducing maternal mortality and Neo natal deaths as the deadline for 2015 approaches. The First lady said this when she participated in a Dialogue of African First Ladies on Maternal and New-Born health beyond 2014, on the sidelines of the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York. The session was organised by OAFLA and UNFPA, and attracted First Ladies across the world including Mrs Ban Soon-Taek, wife of the UN Secretary General, Ban Kin Moon and Her Royal Highness Anna Garcia De Hernandez, First Lady of Honduras.
