Greater Accra GPRTU opposes directive to use seatbelts in vehicles The Greater Accra Regional Secretariat of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, GPRTU, has vehemently kicked against and also expressed displeasure over a directive for all members to use seat belts in their vehicles. They say the directive by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, DVLA, was not arrived at through broad consultation with the Union. At a media briefing in Accra, its Chairman, Robert Sarbah, said the move should be directed at long distance vehicles and not they who operate around town. Some drivers also spoke against the move by DVLA saying it is a calculated attempt to get them out of the road to make way for the Bus Rapid Transit Operations. GBC
