President Obama Says Ebola Pandemic Is Spiralling Out Of Control And Announces US Intervention

US President Barack Obama has announced new support measures to help combat the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in West Africa. 

He said the spread of the disease is "spiralling out of control" and poses a potential threat to global security. 

Mr Obama confirmed plans to send US troops to the region and new teaching and treatment units to Liberia. 

The announcement was made after Mr Obama met officials at the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
