AU Volunteers to be briefed on Ebola outbreak The African Union (AU) says it is giving pre-deployment briefing to volunteers under its operation support to Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The first batch of 30 volunteers to be deployed in Liberia is receiving the briefing at the AU Headquarters in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa, and they are expected to depart tomorrow. The volunteers include epidemiologists, public health specialists and communications personnel. All the experts are volunteers coming from Uganda, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria and Ethiopia. The move is expected to enhance the capacity of existing national and international response mechanisms through mobilization of technical expertise, resources, political and financial support. It will also complement the efforts of on-going humanitarian assistance and coordinate support provided to the affected member states to augment field response operations. Source: Xinhuanews
