NPP Sets Guidelines for Electing Regional Representatives - The National Steering Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has set guidelines for conducting the party's election of Regional Representatives to the National Council. A statement signed by Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, General-Secretary of NPP, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday said, nominations will be closed on Friday, June 27. According to the statement, the party has also fixed GHc2,000 as nomination fee for all aspirants It said the elections will be supervised by Representatives of the National Executive Committee. The statement advised all Regional Chairmen to ensure that the elections are held in strict conformity with the provisions of the Party’s Constitution. “Any matter that may arise in the organization and conduct of the Elections should be promptly reported to the General Secretary for resolution,” the statement directed. It is hoped that these Guidelines will greatly assist in the organization and conduct of the Extraordinary Regional Delegates Conferences to elect Regional Representatives on the National Council, the statement added. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the constitutional committee of the NPP, Ayikoi Otoo says, the decision by the party to organise elections to choose regional representatives to the party's National Council will make the legal suit brought against it to die a natural death. He also insisted that all previous decision taken by the Council in respect of the time table for the election of a flagbearer are still valid. GBC
