World Vision Suggests Gov’t Devise Education Infrastructure & Human Resource to Guarantee Access to Education for All

World Vision Ghana has recommended to Government to map out the education infrastructure and human resource needs in the country, including the number of schools necessary to guarantee access to education for all children, as well as to improve teacher-pupil rations. 

As a demonstration to government’s commitment to the Dakar Framework for Action, government should allocate at least 15 percent of the Gross Domestic Product to education, and show how priority has been accorded to primary education. 

The National Director of World Vision Ghana, Hubert Charles made the recommendation at the celebration of the Day of the African Child at Ejura in Ashanti. 


He said government should expand the school feeding programme to cover more rural communities to increase enrolment and retention. 

Government should as well adopt legislative measures to enforce compulsory schooling of all children of school going age for the full realization of the free compulsory universal basic education. 

According to Mr. Charles, education for all calls for improvement of every aspect of the quality of education to facilitate measurable learning outcomes for all, especially in literacy, numeracy and essential life skills.

This means that government has a responsibility to ensure quality education as part of the ultimate goal of education for all. 

Mr. Charles therefore called on government to integrate quality assessment into the general assessment of education in the country. 

An inclusive education approach to facilitate education of children with disabilities should be adopted, while specific resources be committed towards early childhood education, particularly in rural areas.
