Konkomba And Bimobas resolve to live together in peace

Konkombas and Bimobas in the Bunkpurugu Yunyoo district have resolved to live together in peace in order to accelerate the socio-economic development in the area. 

The two groups and their Mamprusi counterparts chewed the sacred cola to symbolically mark the end of hostilities at a colorful ceremony at the Nayiri’s Palace at Nalerigu. 

The two groups have been engaged in a perennial conflict over a piece of land which is smaller than a football pitch.

Though a solution is yet to be found over the piece of land under contention, the two groups have agreed to use dialogue to settle all outstanding issues. 

The Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, who has jurisdiction over the area, advised them to channel their efforts into productive ventures that will improve the high levels of poverty and under development .

He noted that, Konkombas and Bimobas come from the same ancestry and with the chewing of the sacred cola, any group that rises up in war against the other, will meet the wrath of the Nayiri and ancestors of the land. 

The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru-Limuna, commended both sides for their patience and determination to bring peace to the area.

He said, the area is too deprived and needs urgent attention in terms of development. 

Alhaji Muniru- Limuna stated that, conflicts will only worsen their plight, since the resources meant for development will be channeled into peace keeping.

The Konkomba and Bimoba Chiefs as well as the youth of the area, pledged to work together for peace. 

They both appealed to government to help resettle displaced persons in the area.
