PURC decide to implement 2nd quarter utility tariff The PURC has decided to implement the utility tariff for the second quarter of this year which was deferred. Consumers will now pay twelve point zero-nine percent for electricity and six point one percent for water. The new tariff takes effect from 1st of next month. The decision to apply the tariff for the second quarter is because the PURC after deliberations on the implementation of the third quarter Automatic Adjustment formula, arrived at a much higher Figure of thirty-one point - five, six percent for electricity and fourteen - point - three, zero percent for water. The Public and External Affairs Director of the PURC, Nana Yaa Jantuah who announced this at a Stakeholders meeting in Accra said the commission decided not to pass on the current increases to the consumer because of the current challenges in the provision of electricity and water. This she said is why the commission has decided to implement a much lower percentage which is the previous tariff for the second quarter of this year. Source: GBC
