Journalists In London Protest As Three Of The Own Are Jailed in Eygpt

Hundreds of journalists are protesting in London against the seven-year jail terms given to three al-Jazeera journalists in Egypt.

A court in Cairo found Australia's Peter Greste, Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed guilty of spreading false news. 

The trio denied the charges and are expected to appeal. 

Australian Foreign Minister, Julie
Bishop says he would work with the Egyptian government to secure the release of Mr Greste as soon as possible. 

He said journalists supported Egypt's transition to democracy, but that also includes freedom of speech and the press.

Meanwhile, Egypt's President, Abdul Fattah al-Sisi says he will not interfere with the judiciary over the sentencing of al-Jazeera journalists in Cairo, which has triggered global outrage. 

Mr Fatta al-Sisi said Judicial rulings must be respected and not criticized even if others disagree.
