Germany Stunned Group Rivals Portugal 4-0

Group D favourites Germany this evening beat fellow Europeans side Portugal 4-0 in their opening match at the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. 

After sizing each other in the opening minutes, it was Germany`s striker Thomas Muller who opened the scoring by converting a penalty in the 11th minutes after Mario Gotze was fouled in the eighteen yard box. 

The Germans maintained their pressure and it yielded dividend when Hummels connected a corner kick to make it two.
 
Portugal Defender Pepe was sent off in the thirty-seven minutes when he fouled Thomas Muller and head butted him.

Thomas Muller secured his personal second goal when the Portuguese
defence were caught pants down. 

The Germans continued their dominance in the second half, and Thomas Muller again scored in the 71st minutes to make it four. 

He has become the first player to score a hatrick in this world cup.

Germany will take on the Black Stars in their next game on June 21.
