The Ghanaian Times and daily heritage are both excited about the appointment of Ghana's Kwasi Quartey as deputy chairperson of the African Union. The Times describes the news as pleasant and welcoming because it brings honour to Ghana while deepening the relationship the country has with its neighbours and the African continent as a whole. The paper calls for support from all quarters for Mr Quartey to enable him to raise the flag of Ghana high.

The Daily heritage for its part is thrilled that Ghanaians continue to excel in the international community by assuming enviable positions in Africa and the world at large. It recounts the success chalked up by Mr Quartey in his career and urges him to justify the confidence reposed in him in the discharge of his duties.
